I’m drawing and waiting around for dinner instead of celebrating easter with my family, but i’m not that surprised. I wanted to post some of the last things from my old sketchbook; I was waiting to see if they got picked up for designs but got impatient. next is a shirt design i’m working on for merchant ships. it is a work in progress, but heres what i’ve got to date. its a guy wearing a richard nixon mask, which i feel like i have to explain cause its otherwise weird.

shirts sketches design la dispute to the north quiet steps art

Sketches July 26, 2009

Here are just some inks of things I’m working on. Looking forward to digitizing them and getting them cleaned up.
These first two, an owl and a group of mice, are going to be together for a to the north shirt. they’ll be seperated by text. i drew them on seperate pieces of paper so i could draw them bigger and resize them in photoshop, so here they are as seperate scans.

Up next is a design for quiet steps. Its goin to be a 2 color tshirt print, black and neon green on white, and i’m also going to paint it digitally for their record art.

lastly are a couple lighthouses i sketched for a la dispute shirt. the pencily one was a bigger attempt at the inked one which was my initial idea but drawn very small. plan to paint it in watercolors then bitmap it for screen printing.

Some Paintings from Tour

here are some watercolor paintings i did on the road in the past month. i only brought black ink with me cause i didn’t want to lose or damage my whole set, so everything was gray-scale and a few things had red hints from a pen.
i know i did more than what i’m uploading but these are all the pictures i got and they’re all with my cell phone so they sort of suck.

Getting back in the swing

Since I didn’t draw anything while on the road with Native, I’ve been trying to do a lot to catch up and get back in the mood of drawing and painting. here are a couple things i’ve done for the hell of it in the two or three days i’ve been back.
the first is just colored pencil and marker, the next two are just marker, and the last is a bigger piece i did with markers/spraypaint/acrylic on wood. i left my bristol in indiana so i’m not doing any watercolors for the time being.






and this is a small part of a big piece that may turn out to be a big deal, or may turn out to be just a rough draft, or may turn out scrapped. not explaining it yet, will take at least a few months before i start running my mouth on it.

A much needed update

looking for work big time right now. we are leaving on tour in about a month and i won’t have much time to work between then and july because of a lot of touring, which is a blessing and a curse, but please contact me if you’d like something done. adamXvass@gmail.com. 1 bigger project going on right now but i’m definitely looking for more.

Update From The Road

I’m in a hot backroom in Atlanta Georgia and feeling motivated to show off some things I’ve drawn/painted on this tour. Before I do, I’d like to link you to a few blogs that are far better at recounting tour events than mine:

My band, La Dispute, has a website where we post pictures/videos/whatever from the road. It is usually pretty well kept. It is located at http://www.ladisputemusic.com.

My friend, room mate, and now tour manager also recounts tales of adventure on his new blog, Unicorn Blood. He probably has enough embarassing pictures of me by now to bury me, so I’m linking to him in an effort to keep him happy. http://colinmccarthy.wordpress.com.

Lastly, Therefore I Am’s tour manager Erin takes a million photos then takes a long time to sort through them and posts the winners on her website http://erinirerin.blogspot.com/. If she doesn’t link back to me, I’m going to be pissed. If she doesn’t read http://www.BUDSNSUDS.org I will be way more pissed, I bet her a slurpee date that its funny, and I know its funny.
