I probably shouldn’t go a month at a time without updating. I was gone on tour with a great band called Touche Amore and let my work take a major backseat to having fun for a couple weeks. Here is most of the stuff I made in that time. Be on the lookout for new art on ladisputemusic.com and myspace.com/ladispute that will correlate to the artwork on some 7”s we have being prepared. also working on artwork for a 3rd edition of here, hear which will come out on christmas via digital download.

here are all the paintings i did as gifts for my friends this year, excepting one which i already gave and forgot to get a picture of but will get one soon.

also, i appreciate everyone who visits my website, but whoever was mislead here by searching “comadre art” on google, i think you’re looking for juan’s drawings at siqdrugfront.com.
Since I didn’t draw anything while on the road with Native, I’ve been trying to do a lot to catch up and get back in the mood of drawing and painting. here are a couple things i’ve done for the hell of it in the two or three days i’ve been back.
the first is just colored pencil and marker, the next two are just marker, and the last is a bigger piece i did with markers/spraypaint/acrylic on wood. i left my bristol in indiana so i’m not doing any watercolors for the time being.

and this is a small part of a big piece that may turn out to be a big deal, or may turn out to be just a rough draft, or may turn out scrapped. not explaining it yet, will take at least a few months before i start running my mouth on it.
looking for work big time right now. we are leaving on tour in about a month and i won’t have much time to work between then and july because of a lot of touring, which is a blessing and a curse, but please contact me if you’d like something done. adamXvass@gmail.com. 1 bigger project going on right now but i’m definitely looking for more.
that being said, here is a collection of things that I’ve done in the past month since my last update.
for la dispute/touche amore split 7” art, a drawing of an abandoned house in indiana on 3 layers of tracing paper (idea borrowed from mez
flash sheet for valentines day, just for the hell of it
\
painting for my mom’s birthday
tentative split art, not done yet
poster for bledfest
poster for sxsw tour featuring dustin hoffman of mr magorium’s wonder emporium (cities are a placeholder, don’t contact me about dates)
make do and mend tshirt
and lastly, to people that follow my blog, you know this is a big deal for me and something i’ve been working towards for some time: i got a tattoo machine. grapefruits for now, but my roommates getting one soon and i’ll post updates.
I feel pretty accomplished today, not entirely sure why. I just finished up an album art project that I’ve been working with for a couple weeks, which is the likely reason, so I went out and got some vegan garbage from Brick Road Pizza and then indulged in some sodas. I recently registered and will soon be updating a blog called Buds & Suds (http://budsnsuds.tumblr.com) where I review different small brew sodas. My long term goal is to get enough traffic that brewers will want me to review their soda and then send me some :).
quite possibly my favorite soda and australian import BUNDABERG was on sale at world market today so I had to get a 4 pack:
there were also some crunchie bars near expiration so they were 50% off and i snagged some. that store has a serious pop selection.
Oh yeah, I did some work too:

Mostly paintings, not a lot of digital or drawing this week.
In this nautical one, I had forgot to color one of the tentacles when i took the picture, but i fixed it since.
this second one is 6 feet 4 inches wide. for album art for a band called a breath beyond broken, there was a jewel case mockup in my last update but heres the whole painting. weird to go from a 6 feet board to a 5 inch cd case.
updated bledfest poster, a work in progress
commission piece on cabinet door
show poster for our first hometown show in half a year TOMORROW
lastly, tour starts next saturday. i’m stoked because ive been in grand rapids too long, 2 months almost haha. we come back apr 7, we leave again apr 20, come back may 24, leave for europe june 4, and come back june 26. in short, i’ll be very busy until july. if you are looking to have work done, they have to be paid for by next saturday, so contact me at adamxvass@gmail.com QUICKLY and we can work something out.
I’m in a hot backroom in Atlanta Georgia and feeling motivated to show off some things I’ve drawn/painted on this tour. Before I do, I’d like to link you to a few blogs that are far better at recounting tour events than mine:
My band, La Dispute, has a website where we post pictures/videos/whatever from the road. It is usually pretty well kept. It is located at http://www.ladisputemusic.com.
My friend, room mate, and now tour manager also recounts tales of adventure on his new blog, Unicorn Blood. He probably has enough embarassing pictures of me by now to bury me, so I’m linking to him in an effort to keep him happy. http://colinmccarthy.wordpress.com.
Lastly, Therefore I Am’s tour manager Erin takes a million photos then takes a long time to sort through them and posts the winners on her website http://erinirerin.blogspot.com/. If she doesn’t link back to me, I’m going to be pissed. If she doesn’t read http://www.BUDSNSUDS.org I will be way more pissed, I bet her a slurpee date that its funny, and I know its funny.
On with the pictures. Peep these and leave me feedback if you feel compelled. Thank you for continuing to read my blog when sometimes I fail to update it regularly.

thought it’d be cool to show the difference between pencil sketch and finished product with a couple recent paintings. shading and color really adds a lot to these.

this is the biggest project I’ve ever done, in both size and scope. I will be posting process photos, explanations, alternate versions, and more in the coming weeks, so please come back and check in. 10.04.2011. thank you.
